OBITUARY
We are extremely sorry to announce the sad demise
of Dr.K. Chakko Kuruvila, son of our revered Headmaster,
the late Kuruvila Jacob, on July 7, 2004 in U.S.A.
Dr. Chakko Kuruvila was very keen to attend the
Birth Centenary celebrations of his father, unfortunately
fate decreed otherwise.
K. Chakko Kuruvila, a loving husband, father and,
for decades, a physician in Colorado, passed away
on July 7, 2004 after a five-year battle with
cancer. He was 63.
A National Merit Scholar, Dr. Kuruvila studied
at the Christian Medical College in South India,
a school famed for its service ethic and commitment
to public health.
He moved to the United States in the late sixties
as a Fulbright Scholar, continuing his training
in Nephrology, first at the Cleveland Clinic and
later at the University of Colorado Health Sciences
Center.
He returned to India in 1974 to work in Bombay,
where he organized the first kidney transplant
team and the first cadaver kidney transplant in
India. Dr. Kuruvila returned to Denver in 1981
as a visiting professor at the University Hospital.
